New York Hosts the Meeting of the Group of Friends on Water

DUSHANBE, 19.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 17, a meeting of the member states of the Group of Friends on Water was held at the UN headquarters to discuss the outcome of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference.
At this event, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands Yoka Brandt, Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua and President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi participated as panelists and expressed their opinions regarding the results of the Conference, including its main messages and further actions.
The Permanent Representative of the country during his speech, highlighted the success of the Conference, its importance and its significant contribution to global processes such as the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, the SDG Summit (September 2023), the 28th UN Climate Change Conference, Summit of the Future (2024).
