DUSHANBE, 21.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, as part of an official visit to China, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress Zhao Leji.

The parties noted that inter-parliamentary relations as an important tool in the complex of mutual relations between Tajikistan and China contribute to the further strengthening of the strategic partnership and friendship between the peoples of the two states.

Rustam Emomali thanked the Chinese side for supporting the implementation of important socio-economic projects in Tajikistan, and also noted the need to expand cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, industry, science, education, health, defense and security.

During the discussion of issues of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, as well as other regional and international organizations, the parties drew attention to the issue of collective struggle against terrorism and extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking, cybercrime and other security threats.

It was expressed confidence that the cooperation agreement between the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress contributes to strengthening close and trusting interstate relations and creating the necessary legal conditions for the development of trade and economic ties and other areas of cooperation.

Rustam Emomali invited Zhao Leji to visit Tajikistan at any convenient time, who accepted the invitation with satisfaction.

Following the talks, a cooperation agreement was signed.

Then, in the presence of Rustam Emomali and Zhao Leji, the following documents were signed:

– an exchange letter on the allocation of financial assistance from China in the amount of $ 2 million for the construction of a conference hall in the complex of the Government of Tajikistan;

– an exchange letter on the previous technical study of the Smart City Project in Dushanbe; construction and reconstruction of the road and 4 new overpasses in the capital, repair and reconstruction of the border crossing of Tajikistan and China «Kulma-Karasu», reconstruction and construction of a section of the road from the village of Varshnor of Shugnon district to the border checkpoint of Tajikistan and China «Kulma -Karasu»;

— an act was submitted to the Government of Tajikistan on the transfer and acceptance of municipal construction vehicles provided free of charge as assistance by the Government of China.
