Acceptance of Tajikistan as a Beneficiary Country of the European Union System of Preferences Discussed in Luxembourg

DUSHANBE, 24.10.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On October 23, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of Central Asia and the European Union, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.
The parties discussed a wide range of cooperation between the two parties, including the joining of Tajikistan to the Generalised Scheme of Preferences of the EU (GSP+) and the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
While discussing regional cooperation, Muhriddin pointed to the hydropower potential of Tajikistan, raw materials and human resources, as well as asked to take into account the above factors while implementing the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union.
