New York Hosts a Meeting of the Friends of Water Group

DUSHANBE, 10.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On November 7, Switzerland hosted the meeting of the Friends of Water Group at the UN Headquarters, where issues related to water and upcoming events, follow-up of the results of the UN Water Conference (in March 2023) and the Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028», were discussed.
During the event, Under-Secretary-General of the UN for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua, Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands Yoka Brandt, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates Muhammad Isa Abushahab participated and spoke as panelists.
The Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN delighted the importance of the outcomes of the UN Water Conference (March 2023) and provided detailed information on the Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028», which will be held in Dushanbe in June 2024.
Also, using the opportunity, he invited UN Member States and UN agencies to this important Conference.
