DUSHANBE, 09.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On November 9, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honorable Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in Tashkent on the sidelines of the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of development and expansion of cooperation in the political, commercial and economic, industrial, energy and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It was hoped that the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, which is planned for next year, would effectively contribute to the further development of the relations between the two countries and bring the relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the level of alliance.
The parties agreed to hold a series of events within the framework of this visit, such as a business, economic and investment forum, a forum of scientists, youth, a meeting of women-leaders, a friendship evening, a joint exhibition of products and sports events.
During the conversation, the heads of state also had a fruitful discussion on other issues of interest.
