DUSHANBE WATER PROCESS. Five Interactive Dialogues Will Be Held as part of the Third Dushanbe Water Conference

DUSHANBE, 11.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The project of the program of the Third Dushanbe Water Conference on the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028,» which will be held in June 2024 in Dushanbe, was developed following the program of the UN Water Conference held in New York in March 2023.
The draft program of the Third Dushanbe Water Conference has been prepared and presented.
The conference program consists of opening and closing ceremonies, forums, plenary sessions and interactive dialogues.
Five interactive dialogues will be held as part of the conference, including “Water for health: access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene” — “The human right to drinking water and sanitation,” “Water for sustainable development: the value of water, the relationship between water-energy-food and sustainable economic and urban development,» «Water for climate, sustainability and the environment: from source to sea, biodiversity, climate, resilience and disaster risk reduction,» «Water for cooperation: transboundary and international cooperation on water, interdisciplinary cooperation, including scientific cooperation and water in the framework of the 2030 Agenda» and «Decade for Action on Water: strengthening the goals of the Decade, including through the UN Secretary-General’s action plan.»
The topics of the interactive dialogues of the Third Dushanbe Water Conference are the same as the topics of the New York Conference. Five interactive dialogues will be co-chaired by international organizations and states such as the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, China, Japan, Egypt, Switzerland, Senegal and the United States.
The conference will be held in Dushanbe as part of the global initiatives of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on water and climate issue.
