Rustam Emomali Meets Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran

DUSHANBE, 08.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On January 8, as part of the official visit to Tehran, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
The meeting focused on a wide range of important and priority issues of relations and cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
It was emphasized with satisfaction that the high-level political dialogue between Tajikistan and Iran plays a constructive role in the constant strengthening of relations and the expansion of multifaceted cooperation.
The parties assessed the role of parliaments in the system of interstate relations as important and expressed interest in expanding relations.
It was noted that today trade and economic cooperation and other relations between Tajikistan and Iran are regulated by 200 cooperation documents.
In this regard, it was mentioned the effective activity of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Iran on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation.
While drawing attention to the wide opportunities of Tajikistan and Iran, the parties expressed interest in increasing the volume of trade turnover to $500 million.
It was considered beneficial to implement important projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport, mineral processing, agriculture and tourism with the attraction of joint investments.
The parties also paid special attention to the development of mutually beneficial relations in the fields of education, science, healthcare and culture.
Allocation of educational scholarships and exchange of students in natural and exact sciences, mathematics and modern technologies, creation of joint pharmaceutical ventures, training and retraining of medical specialists, development of the field of health tourism, continuation of good traditions of cultural relations, such as organizing cultural days and events, preserving and maintaining the Tajik-Persian language was considered as one of the real directions for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The parties also had an exchange of views on international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, the Palestinian issue, and other topics of the world agenda.
Following the meeting, Rustam Emomali invited Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to make an official visit to Tajikistan at a convenient time. The invitation was accepted.
As a result of the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly.
The signing of a new document on cooperation allows to continue the constructive inter-parliamentary dialogue between Tajikistan and Iran at a high level and content.
