Speaker of the National Assembly Rustam Emomali Meets Iranian President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi

DUSHANBE, 09.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Speaker of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with President of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi.
The meeting focusd on a wide range of important and priority issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran, including in the field of inter-parliamentary relations.
It was noted with satisfaction that currently bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Iran are systematically developing in various areas of mutual interest, and constant meetings and contacts at a high level play a significant role in the effective advancement of this process.
The parties stated the importance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in expanding economic ties.
While considering the steady growth in trade volumes between Tajikistan and Iran, as well as bringing this figure to $500 million, the parties paid special attention to expanding cooperation and implementing investment projects in promising areas of energy, transport, mechanical engineering, food, mining, pharmaceuticals and processing of agricultural products.
In order to strengthen cultural ties, it was considered important to expand cooperation in the field of higher education, research and technology, exchange of experience between health care professionals, direct connections between scientific medical institutions and continuation of the traditions of organizing cultural days.
An exchange of views took place on issues of cooperation in the international and interregional arena, including on the situation in Afghanistan and Palestine.
