DUSHANBE, 24.09.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in New York with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

Cooperation issues between Tajikistan and Kuwait were discussed at the meeting.

The sides exchanged views on strengthening and expanding bilateral relations in the fields of economy and trade, investment, culture, health, tourism, air communication and security.

In order to improve commercial and economic relations, it was considered necessary to expand cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and to revitalize the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic, commercial, scientific and technical cooperation.

Extraction of minerals, light and food industry, export of drinking water from Tajikistan and processing of agricultural products were named as other promising areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Also the sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the field of education, allocating scholarships for medical, technical and exact sciences for citizens of the two countries.

During the discussion of issues related to ensuring security and stability, the parties emphasized the importance of holding the International Counterterrorism Conference «Kuwaiti Stage of the Dushanbe Process», which will be held soon in Kuwait.
