IPA CIS observers to monitor parliamentary elections in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 26.12.2024 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) will monitor the elections of deputies of the new convocation of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, which will be held on March 2, 2025, reports press service of the IPA CIS.
The Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council will start forming a monitoring group, which will include representatives of the parliaments of the CIS member nations, CIS IPA officials and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development of IPA CIS member nations.
Majlisi Namoyandagon consists of 63 deputies. Elections are held by secret ballot on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage. 22 representatives are elected by the proportional system, 41 — by single-mandate constituencies.
