Tajikistan and Azerbaijan Discuss Cultural Cooperation in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 20.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Tajikistan, the Minister of Culture of Tajikistan, Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, met her Azerbaijani counterpart Adil Karimli in Dushanbe to discuss expanding bilateral cultural cooperation.
The ministers exchanged views on the current state and future of Tajik-Azerbaijani relations in the cultural sphere.
The ministers emphasized shared cultural traditions and musical heritage, including Tajik Shashmaqom and Azerbaijani Mugham, as well as Falak and Ashug music. Discussions also included joint artistic initiatives and professional training for Tajik cultural specialists in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani delegation visited several cultural sites, including the Book Museum and New Publications Hall, and participated in the opening of the exhibition “National Heritage: Eternal Pearls of Azerbaijani Art” at the National Museum of Tajikistan.
Cultural events continue with performances at the Tajik State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, and a concert in Danghara. On May 21, the delegation will visit the Norak HPP, National Museum, Kokhi Navruz, and the Istiqlol Complex.
A Memorandum of Cooperation is expected to be signed between the national libraries of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan at the National Library.
