Tajikistan leaders Central Asia in terms of renewable energy potential

DUSHANBE, 02.05.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. According to the annual report of the International Agency for Renewable Energy in the Republic of Tajikistan, over the past 10 years (2015-2024), the installed capacity of renewable energy sources increased by 15.8%, or 781 megawatts (MW).
According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the country, the total capacity of renewable energy sources increased from 4957 MW in 2015 to 5738 MW in 2024, which is mainly due to the development of hydropower plants.
It should be noted that Tajikistan currently produces 98 percent of electricity from the country’s hydropower resources and ranks sixth in the world in terms of the share of green energy production from renewable sources.
Currently, Tajikistan is the leader among Central Asian countries in terms of green energy production.
