Dushanbe to Host Second Toji Somon International Film Festival

DUSHANBE, 12.06.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – In celebration of Tajik Cinema Day, observed annually on October 16, the Second Toji Somon International Film Festival will be held in Dushanbe from October 15 to 20 under the theme “The History of Tajikistan’s Development.”
The festival is expected to welcome numerous guests from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as from countries across Asia and Europe.
As part of the festival program, National Cinema Days of the Russian Federation, Iran, India, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan will be held in Tajikistan.
The festival agenda also includes a session of the Council of Film Studio Directors, presentations of film projects—including animated, feature, and documentary films—interactive meetings with renowned figures of the international film industry, press conferences, and educational masterclasses in the format of “Mentor and Student.”
The primary goals of the festival are to support young creative talent, promote national values, facilitate experience-sharing and professional training, showcase both domestic and international films to audiences, develop joint film projects, present tourism opportunities, highlight the achievements of the independence era, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of cinema.
Toji Somon International Film Festival serves as a vital platform for global film industry professionals. Distinguished filmmakers from various countries are expected to attend as honored guests.
Held biennially, Toji Somon International Film Festival is a major cultural event for both residents and visitors of the Tajik capital. The inaugural festival took place in 2023, with the second edition now scheduled for this year.
