On October 10, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with President of the Republic of Belarus, Honorable Alexander Lukashenko as part of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that «cooperation with our strategic partner, the Republic of Belarus, is one of the priority areas of Tajikistan’s foreign policy, and we are interested in further enriching bilateral relations with new content.»

The need to develop interparliamentary cooperation was noted.

The parties paid particular attention to expanding trade, economic, agricultural, and industrial ties.

The heads of state expressed interest in intensifying the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Council of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Belarus, and the Joint Working Group on Developing Investment Partnerships.

In the agricultural sector, the sides discussed increasing the volume of fruit, vegetable, and cotton exports to Belarus, as well as establishing joint ventures for processing agricultural products.

Special attention was paid to developing cultural and humanitarian ties and cooperation in education.

An exchange of views also took place on cooperation in healthcare, the establishment of pharmaceutical production, and the training of professional personnel.

In the context of cooperation within international and regional organizations, mutual support for the parties’ initiatives on the global stage was noted.
