On October 10, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honorable Ilham Aliyev as part of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

At the beginning of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon stated that regular dialogue provides additional impetus to the development of cooperation between our countries.

The intensification of interparliamentary ties and the activities of friendship groups were noted.

Considerable attention was paid to further strengthening cooperation in trade and economic matters, expanding investment ties, and increasing trade turnover. Interaction between relevant agencies was deemed essential for implementing joint activities in the free economic zones of the two countries and producing export products, including in the processing of agricultural products.

Other topics of discussion included expanding cooperation in promising industrial sectors, the creation of technology parks, and the implementation of economic projects and programs.

In the transport sector, regular air service between the two capitals and the use of transit capacity for cargo shipments were recognized as important.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, an exchange of views took place on holding cultural days and increasing the number of educational scholarships for Tajik youth.

Satisfaction was also expressed with the level of cooperation within international and regional organizations.
