The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, attended and addressed the UN Summit on Social Development in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, stated that social well-being is an important foundation for strengthening comprehensive peace, stability, and sustainable development.
It was noted that the adoption and implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040 continues our country’s efforts in this area.
President Emomali Rahmon stated that eight state programs and three long-term strategies in the field of education are currently being implemented in Tajikistan, which are also key to the development of the social sphere.
It was also noted that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is taking the necessary measures to ensure the effective operation of healthcare institutions and improve the level and quality of medical services for the population.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized that, as part of implementing adopted programs and strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, our country places special emphasis on strengthening human potential.
It was reported that over the past two decades, Tajikistan has created and restored more than 4 million jobs in various socio-economic sectors.
Emomali Rahmon also shared his vision for the interconnectedness of social development and environmental sustainability in Tajikistan. It was noted that our country is consistently taking measures to counter the effects of climate change to ensure the well-being of its population.
Emomali Rahmon stated: «We emphasize the need to take serious measures to improve vulnerable countries’ access to financial sources and ensure sustainable financing, particularly for social services, strengthening human capital, and adapting to climate change.»
The Head of State’s reflections touched on the transition to a green economy and green energy, as well as the widespread adoption of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in various sectors of Tajikistan.
In this context, Emomali Rahmon recalled the adoption of a Special Resolution of the UN General Assembly, initiated by Tajikistan, entitled «The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia.»
It was emphasized that this resolution could play an effective role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in our region.
Concluding his speech, the Head of State noted the need to unite efforts to create equitable conditions for social development for all segments of society and peoples worldwide.
It was emphasized that social development, as one of the key areas of the Sustainable Development Goals, requires special attention, acting in solidarity.
