Within the framework of the 59^th plenary session of the IPA CIS in Dushanbe, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, met with the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, reports Khovar.

During the meeting, issues of the further development of bilateral cooperation were discussed.

It was emphasized that relations between Tajikistan and Russia are characterized by strategic partnership and alliance and are a priority area of foreign policy for both countries.

It was noted that political dialogue between the two states is constantly developing at all levels.

Satisfaction was expressed with the stable development of interparliamentary relations and the effective work of the Commission on Cooperation between the upper houses of both parliaments.

An exchange of views took place on the implementation of Tajikistan’s priorities as chair of the Commonwealth of Independent States and on the agenda for the next meetings of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States in Dushanbe.

In the context of trade and economic cooperation, the parties paid particular attention to expanding investment and implementing joint projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport, and the digital economy.
