National Water Council Established in Tajikistan

A National Water Council has been established in Tajikistan to strengthen coordination and decision-making in the field of water resources management.
The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, announced this on January 29 during a press conference summarizing the Ministry’s activities. According to him, the Council was created to form a unified platform for coordination, assessment, and the adoption of key decisions related to the use, protection, and sustainable management of the country’s water resources.
It was emphasized that the new body will help harmonize state water policy, while ensuring that planning and implementation processes become more transparent, coordinated, and effective.
The Minister also noted that the first meeting of the National Water Council was held in Dushanbe in December 2025. During the meeting, participants discussed issues concerning the protection and management of water resources, as well as the implementation of state policy in the field of water resources management.
