On March 9, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, sent a congratulatory telegram to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hossein Khamenei, which read:

 I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of your worthy election to the position of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.  

I am confident that under the leadership of Your Excellency, the proud people of Iran will overcome all the challenges that our friendly and brotherly country is facing today.  

We consider the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in strengthening peace and stability in the region and the world to be important, and once again emphasize our support for the mandatory observance of the principles and provisions of international law in interstate relations.  

With renewed congratulations, we express our readiness to further strengthen and expand the fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran for the benefit of the two brotherly nations, based on the principles of goodwill, trust, and mutual respect.
