Tajik, Russian Lawmakers Discuss Labor Migration and Bilateral Cooperation

Mahmadshoh Gulzoda, chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, met with Viktor Pinsky, secretary-general of the General Confederation of Trade Unions and a member of Russia’s State Duma, to discuss bilateral relations, interparliamentary cooperation and labor migration during talks in Dushanbe, according to Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament.
The two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of Tajik-Russian relations, noting that cooperation continues to develop on the basis of their strategic partnership and alliance, as well as the principles of mutual respect, equality and consideration of each other’s interests.
They emphasized the important role of the two countries’ legislatures in providing the legal framework for implementing agreements reached by their leaders and said expanding interparliamentary cooperation would further strengthen bilateral ties.
Labor migration and the protection of the rights and social interests of Tajik citizens working in Russia featured prominently in the discussions.
The officials noted that recently signed agreements in the migration sector have strengthened the legal framework for bilateral cooperation and helped improve the regulation of labor migration.
They also underscored the importance of continued cooperation between the relevant authorities of both countries to improve migration procedures, ensure decent working conditions, safeguard the social rights of migrant workers and monitor the implementation of bilateral agreements.
