SCO business council’s board held session in Tashkent
Dushanbe, 24.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On June 23 a session of the SCO Business Council (BC) was held in Tashkent.
According to Jahon Information Agency, the gathering was attended by SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov, SCO BC Executive Secretary Sergey Kanavsky, as well as chairpersons of the SCO BC’s national branches: Said Sharif (Tajikistan), Alisher Shaihov (Uzbekistan), Raimbek Batalov (Kazakhstan), Marat Sharshekeyev (Kyrgyzstan), H. Meizing (China) and Sergey Katyrin (Russia).
The SCO BC was established in June 2006 and is a nongovernmental body that brings together the business communities of SCO member states for the purpose of expanding economic cooperation, setting up direct ties between business and financial communities, and contributing to the practical promotion of multilateral projects.
The session discussed the prospects in the development of the SCO Business Council’s activities, including the priorities and main directions of interaction for the near future by running joint projects aimed at boosting the economic potential of the region’s countries. The gathering focused on various aspects of cooperation in supporting small business and private entrepreneurship, transport and logistics, innovations, information and communication technologies, exhibitions and fairs, agriculture, tourism and attraction of foreign investment among other issues.
With an eye to assisting with further development of economic and investment cooperation, the session participants noted the importance of organizing joint events and ensuring participation by representatives of businesses in major international forums, exhibitions and fairs held regularly in SCO member countries.
