The Parliament of Tajikistan ratified CSTO Protocol on combating cybercrime
Dushanbe, 07.10.2016 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The deputies of the Lower House of the Parliament of Tajikistan on October 5 have ratified the Protocol of the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on combating criminal activities in the information sphere.
Mansurjon Umarov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan has asked MPs to adopt the document, having considered it important for ensuring the security of Tajikistan. “Prevention of destructive actions using the internet is one of the main purposes of the protocol”, — he said.
The protocol on cooperation between the CSTO countries on combating cybercrimes is directed at formation of the information security system, the prevention of destructive information impacts. This document was signed in 2014 in Moscow by member countries.
According to special services of Tajikistan, since the beginning of this year, thanks to the surveillance on the Internet, 8 terrorist attacks planned on the territory of Tajikistan were prevented.
Abdulrahim Abdulasanov, representative of the Prosecutor General of the country has said that for this purpose they had to monitor social networks, e-mail, and messengers.
Earlier this year Tajikistan has announced the intention to establish a Centre for the fight against crime with the use of information technologies and cybercrime.
