DUSHANBE, 03.02.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Due to heavy rainfall in the mountainous areas of Tajikistan on different sections of roads Dushanbe — Khujand, Dushanbe — Jirgatol, Khorog — Ishkashim and Khorog — Darvaz for the last days was recorded descent of snow avalanches. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the press centre of Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /CESCD/ under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Umeda Yusupova.

According to her, as a result of descent of snow avalanches and heavy snowfall the section of highway Dushanbe — Khujand from 54 to 71 km was closed.

“For the cleaning of the highway the road service company Innovative Road Solutions (IRS) has allocated 6 units of machinery from the two sides of the road”, — she said, adding that the headquarters for the liquidation of the emergency situations are being worked around the clock.

In this regard, the CESCD kindly urges citizens to refrain from travel, trips to avalanche dangerous areas, to be vigilant and cautious. The avalanche danger on the roads still exists.
