Dushanbe launched a competition for the concept of monuments to Abdurahmani Jomi and Alisher Navoi
The Dushanbe mayor’s office announced the launch of a competition for the concepts of a monument to Tajik poet Abdurahmoni Jomi and Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi in Dushanbe.
According to competition organizers, both nationals of Tajikistan and foreigners (sculptors, architects, designers, artists, and industrial designers) have been invited to take part in the competition.
A statement by the Department of Public Information and External Affairs at Dushanbe mayor’s office indicated that the result of competition will be announced on June 20, 2018.
It was noted that the decision to install the monument was made by the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon on March 6, 2018.
By president’s decree the “50 years of youth” Park in Dushanbe will be renamed Nizomiddin Alisher Navoi Park.
The sculptures of Nuriddin Abdurahmoni Jomi and Nizomiddin Alisher Navoi will be set up in this park as the symbol of friendship of peoples of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
It should be particularly noted that this step of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon is taken as a kind demonstration of humanity, peace-loving and facilitation to the strengthening and expansion of friendly relations for the sake of honoring the outstanding sons of the two friendly and neighboring nations – Nuriddin Abdurahmoni Jomi and Nizomiddin Alisher Navoi and their appreciation for the contribution to the cause of strength of friendship of Tajik and Uzbek peoples.
