Director of UNESCO Regional Office visited historical sights of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 29.09.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Ms. Krista Pikkat on September 24-28 was in Tajikistan on a working visit.
According to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the purpose of the visit was to prepare for the UNESCO project “Promoting the activities of the Silk Road to Afghanistan, Central Asia and Iran within the framework of the international action of the Year of Cultural Heritage with the financing of the European Union”.
Ms. Krista Pikkat, as part of her working visit, visited the historical sights of Tajikistan, which were included in the previous UNESCO Historical Heritage List, including the Ajinateppa buddha, Hulbuk medieval city and Khoja Mashhad Monument.
“During this trip Ms. Krista Pikkat was warmly welcomed by the employees of the Danghara Republican museum-reserve and the Qubodiyon district museum who showed her the museum’s exhibits. Also, at the Palace of Culture of the Qubodiyon district was organized an exhibition of works by folk artisans, which were highly assessed by our guest”, — the source said.
In this trip, the Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Ms. Krista Pikkat was accompanied by the Head of the Department for the Protection of Historical Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherali Khojaev.
