Dushanbe — Chanak Highway is Under Supervision
DUSHANBE, 18.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Despite the heavy snowfall, the traffic on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway is under constant control, said the head of the Press Center of the branch of Innovative Road Solutions LTD (IRS), Daleri Abdullo.
“The traffic in some areas, for example, from the 48th to the 73rd kilometer and from the 152nd to the 160th kilometer, is somewhat difficult due to avalanches,” noted the head of the Press Center of IRS, which oversees the tolled highway.
According to a joint order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Transport, and the IRS, the traffic flow of heavy trucks will be stopped in necessary cases anywhere from two to four hours, that is, until the liquidation of avalanches.
In order to reduce traffic jams and possible accidents, the company asks drivers not to go on the road without winter weather preparations.
“The IRS spends a great amount to maintain the road in proper condition. Currently, the company has more than 180 equipment and machines at its disposal. It purchased new equipment, such as bulldozers and special trailers for the expansion of activities and the timely elimination of problems resulting from avalanches,” said Abdullo.
The company has reserved 10,000 cubic meters of anti-skid substances, 260,000 liters of diesel fuel, 85 tons of coal and the necessary amount of winter clothing for workers aiming to ensure uninterrupted activity for the autumn-winter period. This factor will maintain the effective operation of the road.
