Hundred Children to Receive Free Surgery by Tajik and Foreign Doctors
DUSHANBE, 18.04.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Thirty specialists from six countries arrived in Tajikistan in order to operate on children and adolescents suffering from congenital heart disease.
From April 13, for the duration of five days, experts diagnosed more than 470 children. Of these, 100 children were deemed in need of surgery. So far, 57 children have been successfully operated on, according to the Istiklol Medical Complex wherein the surgeries are being performed. The doctors are working free of charge until April 21.
The services of foreign doctors were sought and organized by the government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan and the social charitable organization Tajikistan with sponsorship of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum institution.
The goal of this initiative is to support low-income families and improve the health of children and adolescents who suffer from cardiovascular diseases.
Visiting specialists from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Bahrain and Germany performed the surgeries together with local Tajik specialists.
