Kunio Mikuriya: WCO Will Contribute to Customs Reforms in Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 24.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday following the meeting with President Emomali Rahmon, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya briefed journalists in Dushanbe.
“During the meeting with President Emomali Rahmon, a set of issues relating to the reform process in the customs sphere of Tajikistan, including in Dushanbe, as well as at customs posts was discussed,” Mikuriya said.
“Specific measures are necessary in order to improve the activities of the Customs Service of Tajikistan. In this process, it is important to train personnel in the field, equip customs posts with modern technologies and reconstruct customs structures, which will contribute to improving the investment climate,” Mikuriya noted.
“The current situation and the prospect of Tajikistan’s partnership with the WCO were also discussed at the meeting,” Mikuriyta emphasized.
Mikuriya arrived in Tajikistan yesterday on a three-day official visit.
As part of his official visit Mikuriya will visit the customs posts of the Terminal of the regional customs department of Dushanbe and the customs post Dusti of the regional customs department in Tursunzoda.
Mukiriya will also visit the Kokhi Navruz palace, vineyards in Tursunzoda and the Varzob gorge.
