Tajikistan’s Statistical Agency Will Begin Using New Census Methods
DUSHANBE, 14.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan will use new census methods this year. The information was confirmed yesterday by the agency’s Director Gulnora Hasanzoda.
“The population and housing census of Tajikistan in 2020 will continue for 15 days. The surveys will be taken by filling out census forms through the website, and in the traditional way — by filling out questionnaires on forms in rural,” Hasanzoda said.
“This fall 500 terminals will be opened equipped with laptops with internet access. Also, if mobile companies give us a discount, the census can be carried out using SMS-messages,” Hasanzoda noted.
The population and housing census will begin on October 1 with the recruitment of over 35,000 surveyors.
Today, there are about 1.3 million households in the country, which means that each surveyor must cover approximately 400 households.
All Tajik citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons temporarily residing in Tajikistan during the census, as well as citizens temporarily leaving the republic will take part in the census campaign.
