An Exhibition of Paintings Titled Kundal Held in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 19.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, an exhibition of paintings by teachers and students of the State Institute of Fine Arts and Design of Tajikistan titled Kundal was held yesterday in honor of the Years of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts.
The exhibition featured more than 55 works by teachers and students. Students also demonstrated methods for making kundal.
Assistant to the President of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, Minister of Culture Zulfiya Davlatzoda, Deputy Minister of Culture Zevar Davlatzoda, Rector of the State Institute of Fine Arts and Design Jamshed Ganizoda, French Ambassador Yasmine Gouedard, students and kundal art lovers attended the exhibition.
“The exhibition was organized to revive and present this type of art. For the Tajik people, kundal is a unique art that expresses true beauty,” Rahmonzoda noted.
The art of kundal is not only reflected in the paintings, it mainly uses a wooden ornament using plaster, where a pattern is applied from clay. Currently, craftsmen use a harder material, cement, to make kundalas.
Attendees got acquainted with the works of teachers and students.
The students who presented their works noted that this art requires tremendous emotional pull from a person.
