Damage of Natural Disaster in Khuroson District Amounts 1.3 Million Somoni
DUSHANBE, 02.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Disaster relief efforts in Khuroson district are ongoing, reports the Press Center of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the government of Tajikistan.
The servicemen of the rescue department have already completed work on cleaning the basements of 40 houses and household plots from mud and water, reads the committee’s message.
The district emergency commission summed up the damage caused by mudflow in Khuroson district. As a result of the disaster, two residential buildings, 6.3 km of a rural road, 7.3 km of irrigation lines and canals, 7.3 km of a drainage line and drains, 186 auxiliary facilities were partially damaged. The total damage amounted to over 1.3 million somoni, adds the committee.
On March 21, due to heavy rains in Khuroson district of Khatlon region, mudflows descended and flooded the homesteads of local residents. Mostly the mud mass caused damage to arable land.
