Cold Snap with Precipitation Approaching Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 07.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – A sharp decrease in daytime temperature to 8 degrees, heavy rains, thunderstorms and hail are expected in Tajikistan from April 7 through April 9. A wet snow will pass in the mountainous and foothill areas, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the government of Tajikistan reports.
On April 8-9 due to heavy rainfall, the likelihood of mudflow will increase in the foothill areas of republican subordination districts (Varzob, Sangvor, Rasht, Nurobod, Fayzobod), Khatlon province (Vose, Khuroson, Kulob, Khovaling, Muminobod, Sh. Shohin) and Sughd province (Istaravshan, Panjikent).
The CESCD asks all country’s residents and guests these days not to be near water bodies, observe safety measures, and refrain from hiking in the mountains.
The Committee also reminds that due to precipitation there is a danger of avalanches, mudflows and rockfalls.
It also advises drivers to be as careful as possible, observe the speed limit, restrict movement at night, and follow the rules of the road in order to prevent accidents on mountain roads and passes.
