Heat Wave on the Way Throughout the Country
DUSHANBE, 23.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – After a string of unusually mild temperatures recently, a spell of hot weather is approaching, announces the Tajik Hydrometeorology Agency.
An increase in temperature is expected from May 24 through May 27. As a result of the influx of hot, dry air from Iran, Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula, an increase in temperature is expected in most parts of Tajikistan.
During these days, the maximum air temperature in the Khatlon region will reach 35-40 °C and in the extreme south it will go beyond 40 °C.
The valleys of the districts of the republican subordination (DRS) and Sughd region will experience a 32-37 °C heat.
In the mountainous areas of the DRS and the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), the maximum air temperature is expected to be in the range of 25-30 °C, and in the Darvoz up to 34 °C.
Due to the heat wave, residents are urged to drink lots of liquids and to reduce the chance of a heatstroke, to limit the time spent in direct sunlight.
Though the temperatures won’t subsite by much, rainy weather is expected following the heat wave.
