International Tourism Forum Tajikistan-2020 Focuses On Joint Measures to Attract Tourists in the Context of COVID-19 Spread

DUSHANBE, 14.11.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The presentation of Tajikistan’s tourism potential, investment projects and joint measures to attract tourists in the context of the spread of COVID-19 were discussed yesterday at the International Tourism Forum Tajikistan-2020, which was held in Dushanbe.
The event, which was initiated by the Committee for Tourism Development, was attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister Davlatali Said, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of international organizations and diplomatic corps, heads and representatives of domestic travel agencies, scientists and specialists.
The forum centered around the COVID-19 crisis, the resulting damage to the industry and its constituent structures, support for the industry in crisis and post-crisis conditions, diversification of the basket of tourism products, investment projects in cooperation with development partners, and increasing investment in tourism.
First Deputy PM Said noted that the rich historical and cultural heritage of Tajikistan, its unique nature with numerous lakes, rich flora and fauna, as well as high mountains are an important basis for the development of tourism, which can be a reliable source of development of the national economy.
Tourism development has been identified as a priority area in the National Development Strategy up to 2030.
Also, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili remotely spoke about the problems and prospects of the tourism industry.
An exhibition of tourism opportunities and souvenirs of Tajikistan was also organized within the forum.
Following the forum, the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Tojiddin Jurazoda informed the participants about their prospects and future plans. He noted that the Committee effectively uses all available opportunities and expresses its readiness to cooperate with all relevant ministries and departments, international organizations, diplomatic corps and development partners.
