DUSHANBE, 30.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The US Embassy is ready to intensify cooperation in the creation of new language centers, to invite US teachers to teach at language centers, and to assist in the publication of textbooks and update the FLEX and ACCELS curricula. This was stated at the meeting of the Minister of Education and Science Muhammadyusuf Imomzoda and the US Ambassador to Tajikistan John Mark Pommersheim.
Currently, eight American centers in Dushanbe, Khujand, Isfara, Kulob, Khorug, Bokhtar, Garm and Panjakent provide free daily services at language centers and participate in round tables with industry experts.
Imomzoda noted that cooperation between Tajikistan and the US in the field of education and science is carried out within the framework of projects and programs funded by the US Department of State.
One of the well-known US organizations working in Tajikistan in the field of education and science is USAID, which has implemented several projects. Specifically, the Quality Learning Project is a five-year program aimed at improving the learning outcomes of secondary school students.
The cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science with USAID was established on the basis of the cooperation agreement. In July 2017, a memorandum was signed between them on the commencement of activities under the Read Together project.
The main goal of the project is to improve the learning outcomes of primary school students in Tajikistan. The project aims to expand access to quality reading materials, improve teachers’ professional skills in teaching reading and assessing reading skills, presenting innovations, and developing partnerships to support academic achievement.
Along with this, since 2007 Sadriddin Ayni Tajik State Pedagogical University’s English Department has been closely cooperating with the US Embassy in Dushanbe.
