Tajikistan Becomes Member of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property

DUSHANBE, 21.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Per initiative of the National Museum, Tajikistan became a member of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).
According to the head of the excursion and public department of the National Museum Faridun Kenjaev, the entry of Tajikistan into the ICCROM will allow young specialists in the field of museum business, including restorers, archaeologists, designers, to take part in short-term courses, and to improve their professional knowledge and skills.
ICCROM was founded in 1956 at the suggestion of the UNESCO General Conference in Delhi. Three years later, it was established in Italy, where it still has its headquarters. The main activity of ICCROM is the study, research and restoration of cultural heritage sites. It annually conducts more than 20 training courses on these issues, covering all costs at its own expense.
It has the largest electronic library in the field of museum business, which can be fully used by all students, specialists, and scientists in this field. To date, 137 countries have become members of ICCROM.
The National Museum of Tajikistan became a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in December 2021.
