New Historical Monument Discovered in the Forob Village of Panjikent

DUSHANBE, 08.06.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 3, as a result of the collapse of a small piece of land in the village of Farob in Panjikent, an ancient burial was discovered.
On June 5, archaeologists visited this monument. It is located in the southern part of the Eshoni Zarrobi sanctuary, in the western part of the Oshkhona ravine, in the southern part of the Olimobod village (Karotegin settlement) of the Farob rural community and is surrounded by a cemetery of the new period.
As a result of research work, an ancient burial was excavated under yellow earth, which has the shape of a domed room. There are shelves inside the burial. Clay jars with bones are placed on each shelf. Most of these shelves are destroyed due to the moisture of the earth.
Archaeologists believe that such a burial is first found in the mountainous part of ancient Sugd, because in its features it differs from other Zoroastrian ceremonial funeral structures.
Research in this direction is ongoing. The final conclusions of experts after the completion of the analysis will be presented to the scientific world.
