President Emomali Rahmon calling for finishing touches on two new solar power plants by 2026
On November 20, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, after commissioning 3 hydroelectric units of the Kayrakkum power plant, simultaneously launched in the city of Guliston construction work on two new energy projects in Asht district of Sughd Province and Jaihun district of Khatlon Province.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that within the framework of this project, solar power plants with a total capacity of 500 MW will be built in Asht and Jaihun districts.
Both facilities will be built with the support of the Government of the country by domestic and foreign companies at a cost of 250 million US dollars, and after their commissioning, the level of electricity supply to the population will be improved.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, instructed that solar power plants in the above-mentioned districts be built and commissioned by August 2026.
The project to build a solar power plant in Asht district is being implemented to provide electricity to 115,000 households and reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere on an area of 750 hectares at a cost of 125 million US dollars.
It was reported that the construction of the solar power plant in Asht district will continue until August 2026, and about 600 people will be employed in its construction work, most of whom are local workers.
After the power plant is put into operation, 30 local residents will be employed.
Construction work on the project to build solar power plants in Asht and Jaihun districts will be completed by the local investor — Ayon Energy Limited Liability Company and the contractor — Tojikgidroelectromontazh Open Joint Stock Company in cooperation with a Chinese company.
