OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Jan Braathu: Access to Official Information in Tajikistan Is at a High Level

DUSHANBE, 06.05.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Issues related to the development of cooperation in the field of information, including strengthening media capacities and ensuring information security, were discussed during a meeting between the Director of the National Information Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar” Subhiddin Shamsiddinzoda and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Jan Braathu.
The two sides exchanged views on future cooperation plans aimed at promoting the effective development of the mass media, the use of artificial intelligence and new information technologies in outreach activities, as well as issues related to access to official information.
It was emphasized that the mass media constitute one of the key pillars of modern society, playing a significant role in shaping public opinion and promoting national values in the context of globalization and the rapid development of digital technologies.
Braathu highly commended the level of access to official information in Tajikistan, stating that substantial work has been carried out in this area.
It should be noted that the OSCE delegation, led by the Representative on Freedom of the Media, Jan Braathu, during a working visit to Tajikistan, also visited the State Institution “Safina Television” in the second half of the day, held a meeting with the television management, and familiarized with the activities of the creative teams on site.
