The “Fragrant Hills of Beijing” International Tourism Forum was held June 1–4 in Beijing, bringing together government agencies, tourism organizations and businesses from around the world, according to the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of Tajikistan.
First Deputy Chairman of the committee Rustam Kholmatiyon highlighted Tajikistan’s competitive advantages in tourism, including its alpine landscapes, natural attractions and cultural heritage, as well as ongoing efforts to modernize tourism infrastructure.
Forum participants were also presented with information on Tajikistan’s natural, historical and recreational sites, which officials said offer strong potential for travel and outdoor recreation.
On the sidelines of the forum, Kholmatiyon met with Gao Zheng, China’s deputy minister of culture and tourism, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in tourism, attracting investment and increasing tourist flows between the two countries.
