President Emomali Rahmon Receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus

On June 5, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Constantinos Kombos.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Republic of Cyprus and the European Union.
“We are interested in long-term beneficial cooperation with the European Union and its member states,” — said the Head of State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, at the beginning of the conversation.
In addition, Tajikistan’s interest in expanding bilateral relations with Cyprus in various areas of mutual interest was expressed.
It was also emphasized that Tajikistan has decided to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union and is interested in expanding the agenda of regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the European Union.
The importance of further promoting continuous political dialogue and effective cooperation between Tajikistan and Cyprus within the framework of international structures, in particular the UN, including on water and climate issues, was stressed.
Issues of cooperation to strengthen security and stability in the region and the world were also important topics of discussion.
