Tajikistan and IMF Expand Cooperation Through Japan-Funded Scholarship Program

The International Monetary Fund’s Japan Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA) was presented at the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan on Aug. 4 during a meeting between government officials and representatives of the International Monetary Fund, according to the ministry.

The presentation took place during talks between First Deputy Finance Minister Yusuf Majidi, Takashi Nagaoka, director of the IMF’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and Saika Kin, the program’s manager.

The participants discussed the scholarship program’s role in strengthening the professional capacity of civil servants, improving economic policymaking and expanding participation by employees of Tajikistan’s financial institutions.

The meeting also reviewed other issues related to cooperation under the JISPA program, which supports graduate-level education and professional development for government officials and central bank employees from eligible countries in Asia.
