Tajikistan Expands Cooperation on Food System, Nutrition Initiative

Representatives of government ministries, development partners and international organizations gathered in Dushanbe on Tuesday for the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the joint program «Changing the Food System to Improve Nutrition in Tajikistan,» according to the Food Safety Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.
Mahmud Shirinjonzoda, first deputy chairman of the Food Safety Committee, said the program plays an important role in strengthening a sustainable food system, improving the nutritional status of the population and expanding cooperation among government agencies.
Participants reviewed the implementation of the program, assessed progress achieved to date and discussed coordination among partner organizations, as well as priorities for the next phase of implementation.
The meeting concluded with proposals aimed at strengthening interagency and partner cooperation to support the program’s objectives of improving food systems and nutrition outcomes in Tajikistan.
