On August 31, 2026, the United Nations General Assembly, at the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan, adopted a resolution declaring August 31, beginning in 2027, as the International Day for Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence.

The adoption of this resolution is a continuation of the consistent policy of the Republic of Tajikistan and the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, in promoting the development of artificial intelligence and new technologies and their responsible use.

The choice of August 31 is of historical significance, as it was on this day in 1955 that the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence was proposed.

The proclamation of this International Day provides a favorable basis for strengthening global cooperation, exchanging experience, and promoting the safe and responsible development of artificial intelligence.

This initiative is an important contribution by the Republic of Tajikistan to shaping the international agenda on artificial intelligence and reflects the country’s active commitment to using new technologies for sustainable development and human well-being.
