Final session of the National platform for disaster risk reduction was held in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 26.12.2016 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The final session of the National platform for disaster risk reduction took place under the chairmanship of the Head of Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustam Nazarzoda today, December 26 in Dushanbe.
As the correspondent of NIAT “Khovar” reports, the participants were informed about the outcomes of the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which was held in New Delhi on November 2-5, 2016. The issues of implementation of signed projects between CESCD and UNDP with the financial support of the Trust Fund of the Russian Federation, Japan and Switzerland were discussed, information was provided about the project on food security during natural disasters and implementation of projects of DIPECHO-9.
The participants also reviewed the draft “National strategy of Tajikistan on disaster risk reduction for 2017-2030”.
The meeting was attended by members of the National platform, the leadership of relevant ministries and departments of the country, as well as representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in Tajikistan.
The National platform for disasters risk reduction was adopted by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan from March 1, 2012 as an advisory and consultative body under the State Commission of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for emergency situations.
The session of the National platform on disaster risk reduction takes place 4 times a year, participants discuss the achievements, shortcomings and ways to solve existing problems.
