Bilateral meetings of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan in China
DUSHANBE, 22.05.2018 /NIAT «Khovar»/. On May 21, in Beijing, as part of the XIII meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdurahim Qahhorov held bilateral meeting with the member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and the Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China Zhao Kezhi.
According to the Embassy of Tajikistan in China, the parties, noting the importance of implementing the agreements reached between the two heads of states and the documents signed in the field of security, discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between the countries in the sphere of ensuring security and stability, including issues of combating terrorism and extremism, illicit drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, training, and other issues of mutual interest. The two parties also had an exchange of views on topical regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
The parties noted the contribution of the SCO member states, including Tajikistan and China to the formation and development of the Organization. Both parties had common opinion that the current meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states is an important stage in the preparation of the SCO summit in the city of Qingdao.
On the same day, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdurahim Qahhorov met with the National Security Adviser of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Nasser Khan Janjua. The parties discussed the issues of bilateral and regional cooperation.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of security and expressed their support for its further strengthening and expansion.
The Tajik side welcomed the Pakistan’s first participation in the meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states and expressed confidence for further mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of this Organization.
