Digitalization and artificial intelligence are among the country’s top priorities for long-term development, Deputy Prime Minister Dilrabo Mansuri said Wednesday at the opening of an international forum in the capital.
“Digitalization and artificial intelligence are among the key priority areas for the country’s long-term development. Their progress contributes to the improvement of public administration, the economy, finance, energy and services,” Mansuri said.
The International Forum “Partnership for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart” opened in Dushanbe with more than 2,000 participants, including government officials, academics, researchers, diplomats and representatives of international organizations, according to the state news agency NIAT Khovar.
Organized by the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan in coordination with the government, the forum focuses on strengthening academic cooperation, promoting innovation and digital technologies, and supporting youth initiatives and research in areas such as climate, energy and green urban development.
Mansuri outlined government efforts to advance the digital economy and artificial intelligence, citing key policy frameworks, including the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence through 2040, the Digital Economy Concept and a medium-term development program for 2021–2025.
Officials said digital technologies are reshaping the economy and public administration, improving access to services and education, and helping reduce regional disparities and environmental risks.
Participants also highlighted Tajikistan’s growing role in international discussions on artificial intelligence. In July 2025, the U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution initiated by Tajikistan on the role of artificial intelligence in advancing sustainable development in Central Asia.
Over the past decade, Tajikistan has recorded steady economic growth, with rising incomes and declining poverty rates, which officials attribute to ongoing reforms.
Speakers emphasized that transitioning to a green economy is essential in a globalized world and said the forum would help expand international cooperation, joint initiatives and new development projects.
The event includes a rectors’ summit, scientific conferences, a youth environmental forum, business meetings, exhibitions of innovation and startup projects, as well as cultural and sports activities.
Officials said the forum serves as a platform for dialogue, promoting scientific, economic and institutional cooperation while strengthening Tajikistan’s position as a regional hub for sustainable development.
