Speaker of Representatives Assembly Meets Afghan Counterpart

DUSHANBE, 01.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Speaker of Representatives Assembly Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda met with the Speaker of the House of People (Wulusi Jirga) of the National Assembly of Afghanistan Mir Rahman Rahmani.
“President Rahmon in his speeches constantly emphasizes the need to expand cooperation with neighboring countries, especially with Afghanistan. The results of the meetings and negotiations at the highest level between the two friendly and brotherly countries are a key factor in expanding bilateral cooperation,” said Zokirzoda.
According to him, during the talks, special attention was paid to the process of finding effective ways to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan and further strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial bilateral relations in various fields.
Zokirzoda also noted that the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Social and Technical Cooperation plays an important role in the development of multifaceted relations.
Assessing the inter-parliamentary cooperation, he noted that Representatives Assembly pays special attention to fruitful and effective cooperation with foreign parliaments, especially with Afghanistan, through a friendship group, resolves issues related to legislation, expansion of economic ties, as well as other important issues.
“We express our sincere gratitude for the continued support of Tajikistan for the position of Afghanistan in international organizations. We are satisfied with our Tajik friends, especially President Rahmon, for the fact that this friendly country always makes constructive proposals to ensure security and stability in our country and restore post-war destruction, calls on the international community and international organizations to assist in this,” said Rahmani.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan will continue to steadily expand in all areas for the benefit of both countries, in the name of peace and prosperity in the region.
