DUSHANBE, 29.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomai Rahmon held a government meeting.

The results of socio-economic development of Tajikistan in the first quarter of 2021 were the main item on the meeting’s agenda. Reports on this issue were delivered by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda, Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, Chairman of the State Tax Committee Nusratullo Davlatzoda, head of the Customs Service Khurshed Karimzoda, Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State owned-Property Management Saadi Kodirzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Kholikzoda Hokim, and the Chairman of the State Savings Bank Amonatbank Sirojiddin Ikromi.

In this period the growth of the country’s gross domestic product is at 7.5% and its volume reaching over 17 billion somoni. Positive growth of the national economy due to the growth of industrial production is at 17.4%, investment in fixed assets is at 7.4%, domestic trade turnover is 6.5%, agriculture 6.1%, transportation 2.1%, passenger transportation 2.6%, and foreign trade turnover is at 33.9%.

In this period, the inflation rate rose to 3.3%, which is due to the increase in food prices by 4.4%, non-food products by 2.4%, and service tariffs by 1.3%. The state budget received revenues totaling 6.1 billion somoni. The plan was fulfilled by 104.5%, which is 34.9% of GDP.

While addressing the results of socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2021, President Rahmon addressed the impact of the oandemic on the world economy, water scarcity, climate change, and food supply.

Government members also discussed the bills which have been submitted to the Assembly of Representatives for consideration, including the draft laws on the fight against terrorism, on youth, and on the legal status of legislators.

Other issues discussed include the strategy of teaching and development of mathematics, exact and natural sciences up to 2030, the state youth policy strategy up to 2030, national strategy for the activation of the role of women for 2021-2030, the draft medium-term development program of Tajikistan designed for 2021-2025 , the export development program for 2021 -2025, the development program of agricultural sciences of for 2021-2025, and the program for the development of geology for 2021-2030.

At the end of the meeting, President Rahmon called for the timely fulfillment of the set tasks and instructed government members to eliminate shortcomings.
