President Emomali Rahmon Attends Tajikistan’s Day of Culture in UNESCO

DUSHANBE, 14.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the opening of the Tajikistan’s Day of Culture in UNESCO headquarters.
The event is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of UNESCO.
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoule and UN member representatives attended the opening ceremony.
President Rahmon expressed his gratitude to Audrey Azoulay and all UNESCO officials for their assistance in organizing the event at the organization’s headquarters.
He noted that Tajikistan attaches great importance to cooperating with the UN and UNESCO.
“We fully support the implementation of projects that make a significant contribution to the development of education and science, safeguarding the country’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage for future generations,” noted Rahmon.
“The National Park of Tajikistan, the ancient city of Sarazm, the national music Shashmaqom, the Navruz holiday, the national dish oshi palov, the art of embroidery called chakan are outstanding examples of the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Tajik people which are recognized by UNESCO and which have been included in the World Heritage List,» he added.
The opening exhibition entitled «Tajikistan, the Land of Golden Rivers» which is being shown in the Guimet Museum with the participation of the Presidents of Tajikistan and France in Paris is yet another important and memorable event.
To date, in the framework of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNESCO, many events have been held to celebrate important historical and cultural dates, honoring outstanding figures of Tajik science and literature, and commemorating the anniversary of historical and cultural sites.
Celebrations of the 2500th anniversary of Istaravshan, 2700th anniversary of Kulob, 3000th anniversary of Gissar, 1100th anniversary of the first centralized state of Tajiks — Samanids, 1150th anniversary of the head of classical Tajik and Persian literature Abuabdulloh Rudaki, 800th anniversary of Mavlono Jaloliddini Balkhi (Rumi), 700th anniversary of Kamoli Khujandi, and the 5500th anniversary of ancient Sarazm are vivid examples of this cooperation.
